The Art Deco style of architecture gained its reputation in the 1920s and 1930s, spreading from France to New York to Mumbai and, as the research leads ahead - to Dharmaj. The short-lived yet influential style expressed modernist, industrial and anti-revivalist aesthetics in all its designs. The town of Dharmaj in Gujarat exhibits a collection of Art Deco structures as a result of the Charotar region's larger socio-cultural context and technological advancements during that time. The study intends to understand the significance of the Art Deco style and its local adaptations in the diverse architectural fabric of Dharmaj.
