Exploring Ceramic Forms: A Journey in Clay

Handbuilding in Clay - 'Terra Tea Set'

This project centered around exploring and mastering various hand-building techniques in clay, including kurinuki, pinching, coiling, and slab construction. Through an iterative design and making process, these traditional methods were combined and refined to create a cohesive and functional ceramic collection titled Terra Tea Set. The final set comprises a teapot, four matching cups, a cup stand, two jars for tea leaves and sugar, and a tray to house the jars. A blend of flattened coil, slab, and traditional coiling techniques was used to craft each component. Careful attention was given to form, texture, and proportion to ensure both utility and aesthetic consistency throughout the set.
