Design Ethnography

Shreyas Museum

'Stories are the most fundamental way we learn. They have a beginning, a middle, and an end. They teach without preaching, encouraging both personal reflection and public discussion. Stories inspire wonder and awe; they allow a listener to imagine another time and place, to find the universal in the particular, and to feel empathy for others. They preserve individual and collective memory and speak to both the adult and the child'. _ Bedford (2001)
As a group we discussed and conceptualized a narrative that we think can be incorporated in the museum that was undertaken in the previous assignment. The narrative needed to be formulated and explained by answering the following few questions. 1. How does this narrative change the existing narrative of the museum? 2. What are the various components that highlight the narrative? 3. What are the implications of this narrative on the space design of the museum?

After forming the narrative of the museum as a group, each student (individually) from the group had to comply to the discussed narrative and propose conceptual design with sketches of different aspects; The aspect proposed here is Lighting and Display in the museum.
