Internship - Urban Design Collective

Urban Design Collective (UDC) is a collaborative platform for architects, urban designers and planners to create liveable cities through participatory planning. It operates out of Chennai, India. This internship report compiles the work I contributed to the projects of UDC during my time as an intern there.

Cities for Play is an initiative that involves designing play spaces for children of various ages for safe and multi-disciplinary play

Cities for Play - drawings and renders

Observe is a program which aims to develop the voices of the youth by guiding them to pay attention to their cities, observe and discover how they function, understand their own neighbourhood and rethink the city based on these findings.

Observe- workbook design and development

Unravelling Kochi is a visioning project for the city of Kochi, Kerala. The project is largely research based, wherein UDC looked into thematic areas such as gastronomy, ecology, colonial history and built forms and morphology. One outcome of this research was the development of a board game based on the history and gastronomy of the city.

Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) undertakes an annual training program to familiarise their engineers with the basics of street design, concepts of Non-Motorised Transport and pedestrian safety. The Chennai Mega Streets is a project envisioned by the Greater Chennai Corporation to redevelop 150 KM of roads in the city in 6 packages, each within a distinct neighbourhood.
