This Studio will focus on the implications of urbanization on design. We will study issues pertaining to ‘hyper-density’ and the conditions it creates in our cities and our built environment. This semester we will look at ‘cross-programming’ as one such condition of our crowded Indian cities. Through an informed understanding of the theory of ‘cross-programming’, the students will apply this knowledge to their design process. To experiment with this theory, we will investigate notions of Play and Work. We will explore, through analysis and design interventions, the spatial and programmatic possibilities where the realms of Play and Work intersect, interface and overlay.
