In Transit: Making a place between Arrival and Departure

As Transit has become an integral part of our daily life, they have become integral parts of our cities. They are public spaces that facilitate the use of public transport. They connect people in a region and a community to the outside world and allow people to switch between different modes of transport. Transit places allow for a greater footfall and gathering of people which acts as a catalyst for the growth of the local economy. This in turn provides better connectivity and improved quality of service for the Passengers. The studio aims to design an Intermodal transit hub for Vasna, a residential neighborhood, situated in the western suburbs of Ahmedabad. The Hub shall connect the AMTS with BRTS and paratransit. The studio will also focus on making the transit hub a public place which is well integrated with the adjacent land uses and developments.
