Are Cities today the great places to live and enjoy the everyday life?. This is the critical question still haunting us since the time we defined ‘City’ as a great urban form at the dawn of Industrial revolution. The experience of going for a morning walk, going to buy milk or vegetables in our neighborhood and many other everyday life activities is lacking the richness of human experience, safety, comforts, meanings and social relevance. The quality loss in our cities forces an urgent need for a critical thought and approach to design and planning of urban space in response to our social needs. Detailed study of everyday activities and their spatial logics will form the base for design and planning. The studio will focus on developing a perspective on the humanizing problem and explore elements of urban design and architectural details in contemporary neighborhood of Ahmedabad City.
