This built form studio focuses on studying how the character of the city core is developed through urban morphology. Students are guided through the lens of urban planning, urban design to unpack the various layers of the urban morphology, analysing and interpreting them in the context of what the core means for the city at a broader level. A rigorous study of building typology helps navigate and reinforce connections between form and space. Students are also sensitized to policy frameworks and market demands, equipping them with relevant and practical knowledge about contemporary trends in development.
At the end of this studio, students will be able to grapple with issues of fragmented urban morphology through a targeted problem-solving approach. They will also develop transferable critical thinking skills that enable them to conduct urban block level studies that can be used in any future projects they might undertake.
