a place for Hope

Architecture is much more than an act of building. Design is a dialogue where the designer encodes the messages and clues while the perceiver decodes them. The studio focused on the fundamental phenomenon of space conception and space perception and wished to understand the fundamentals of space design. The idea was to build a memorial for "Hope". Though an abstract notion, hope can be defined by various comparisons - dark-light, barren-life, and concrete-green. The memorial was designed as journey breaking away from the monotony of the city, leading to the water - site on the Sabarmati Riverfront.
