Industrialization in 1968 laid the foundation for many developed areas in Ahmedabad. Industrial activity is a prime determinant in shaping city size and growth opportunities. The growth of Ahmedabad city in the fringe area like Odhav and Nikol is highly affected by three urban generators - Odhav, Vatva, and Naroda GIDC. Industrialization has affected the physical morphology of the urban area. The process of urbanization driven by industrialization laid to the transformation of land use from agriculture to industrial to residential and commercial. The book refers to the key physical, economical and social aspect of Odhav and Nikol area. Furthermore, due to the city development triggered by the increase in population, the area between the walled-city and the industrial area has experienced a great change. It is also triggered by the development of ring roads and state/national highway around the city. The book is divided into five chapters, further explain the impact of an industry as an economy generator, nuisance of industry and environment degradation.
