This studio is about understanding and applying a few lessons from the Architecture of Mandu to create a design responding to the current context. The intention is to take Mandu as an inspiring architectural context which expresses the basics of architecture in a simple and profound manner. This studio seeks to focus on aspects of ‘Architectural Experience’ out of the vast number of possible ways to learn from the architecture of Mandu. The attempt is to first find the Principles and Elements which emerge from architecture, that constitute the ‘Experience’ of Mandu. After observing, analyzing and synthesizing these Principles and Elements, there will be application on the design problem. Design problem will be a small-scale institution building.
