Hidden Spaces: Exploring the Underground

The studio focuses on crafting of spaces underground and hence dealing with the paradoxes and the complexities of it. In the first part of the studio the students will learn to develop a design vocabulary using permutations and combinations of various space making elements as well as methodology to achieve the required intent(given to them In form of a singular word) The exercise would include explorations through diagrams and study models. This would enable the students to evolve a language of space as well as integrating light, volume, circulation etc to achieve a well rounded design solution. As for the main project, the site based in Polo Forest with a natural context would be introduced. After the initial site studies, the conceptual development will start off with writing a narrative as well as conveying the same through a storyboard.
