PROJECT I TAPI RIVER BRIDGE BETWEEN MANDVI AND TARSADA

Unlike river bridge projects in urban areas, the major bridge is constructed using latest construction technology. The Project is located in Surat District. Unlike in Surat city most of the bridges over Tapi river have low water level, this major bridge over Tapi river has very high-water level compared to Surat city river bridges. The National Highway bridge has depth of water of maximum 12 m in summer season and can be reached up to 15 m during the monsoon season. The water current flow also very high in Project Bridge because it is nearby the Kakrapar Dam on upstream side. This unique feature can influence the project imparts latest construction methodology to be adopted. i.e. the preparation of casting bed between each span becomes unviable and uneconomical due to high water depth and make launching of Girder necessary.
