VADODARA TO MUMBAI 8 LANE EXPRESSWAY

National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase-VI is for the development of 1000 km of expressways and includes the construction of about 379 km long Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway proposed to be implemented under Public Private Partnership mode and to be executed as Hybrid Annuity contracts. The project has been divided into three phases of development, and the stretch under Phase I from 323.00km to 355.00km comes under the scope of this study. The project conceptualized in the 1990’s, after a series of controversies, has finally been awarded for construction to PATEL Infrastructure Ltd. in the year 2019. The need for constructing the Vadodara Mumbai express highway was borne by the fact that Mumbai was the commercial capital of India and Vadodara is developing into a major industrial and commercial center. The proposed expressway will cut down the travel time between the two cities by 2 hours. The main aim of this project study is to understand the development phase of the proposed Greenfield expressway. The corridor experiencing one of the heaviest traffic in the country needs to be analyzed from the viewpoint of feasibility and project appraisal. The aim of the study is to provide a possible solution for an Expressway that can meet the demand for the future and can also be financially and socially viable.
