The practice - Detail as an ideology

The studio focuses on deciding the principle of our practice. The pedagogy of my practice is based on “Thinking through details”. The detail in an Architectural term is misused very often. It always represented as a small scale architectural design. In simpler terms, detail as a word is something which is an antonym of the word outline or summary. Whether it is a house or institution or a city, it is made up of a multitude of encounters, each a microcosm of the larger picture. Often great architecture can be born from the articulation of different parts which could be the driving force of the whole project. Sometimes the answer to the architectural problem may not be one single response at the scale of the site, but several responses varying from micro to macro scale. It is the identification of these responses and creating a coherent language out of these, within which lies my crux of ideology.
