LIMDI LIVE - Rabari Vas

Rabari Vas, when seen from afar, gives a different expression than what happens when one travels deeper into the streets of this community. The houses at the interiors of this community are much more congested and close together than the houses at the ‘facade’ of this community. Rabari Vas is very different from any other settlement, children here regularly go to school and all the men and women have jobs. They are well satisfied in that aspect, however, they as the open spaces is only 17% in this community, residents are often seeking an open, unhindered space where the kids can play and a place where the people can sit and talk to their neighbors. In the reaction to the less space, the kids are often seen climbing up the tinned roof to find a ‘breathable space’, and women are often seen sitting on the roadside on a charpai. I propose a place where the kids could climb up to a play zone which is safe yet playful. It can be a place which takes them away from the congestion. This decides my massing of placing one container vertically where they can climb up to see the broad skyline which at current scenario doesn’t allow them to.
