Geotechnical Investigation and Foundation Design

The study of soil properties and how they effect foundation system design is explored in Geotechnical Parameters: Influencing Foundation Systems. The studio began by using mind maps to help learn various geotechnical concepts. After that, a site visit to Vapi was made, where a borehole was drilled and the samples were collected. The samples were evaluated in the lab, and the data was used to design an Overhead Water tank that could withstand various loads. For the structure, suitable foundation systems such as Isolated, Raft, and Pile were chosen. The course also included soil improvement techniques.
