Aangan or courtyard is a place of gathering which also acts as the heart of traditional pol houses as it's a place of gathering, into which the whole house opens up.
This project follows the traditional language of pol houses, with the usage of traditional salvaged architectural elements and an aangan into which all the floors open up and get connected to each other. Play of levels and volumes enhances the experience of togetherness and quality of each space. Interaction within the family and with the community is facilitated through balconies and Otla. Nooks and niches are provided as an escape for the members of the family. The existing tree, added greens, pitched roof, khass chik mats and regulations in protrusions ideally respond to the site and keep the house cool. The greens of the facade also makes the house feel welcoming.
