India's major energy sector is dependant on non-renewable energy . As india is a tropical country it has a very cost effective, cleaner and efficient alternative i.e. Solar energy. In this studio of 'GIS for Governance' an attempt has been made to understand the present scenario (computation of energy consumption), advanced remote sensing and spatial analysis techniques were used to determine the potential sectors for rooftop solar panel installation. The project also delivers an interactive map interface and a calculator which provides user with a comparison of economic and environmental factors.
