RANGREZ - The Tie and Dye Space

Recreation and creation i.e the idea of making goes hand in hand. The space designed is meant for creative enthusiasts, aged 10 or above, curious and passionate about the art of textiles and its creation. The space is brought together and set up by a team of designers to celebrate this traditional textile art of Kutch, Gujarat. The Bandhani, also known as Bandhana, is an extraordinary art form created by the Indian dyers community. It is a labour of love and requires a great deal of patience and talent. The space has three main spaces namely, the Workshop, Display, and Material library, located on ground floor. The mezzanine floor allows for a double height in the display area which highlights the fabrics of Bandhani in various colours. The Workshop is a demonstration space where the process of making can be seen beginning from Printing of fabric, Tying, and finally Dyeing. The site is located in Ahmedabad, near Prem Darwaza. The space is designed as a collaborative project with CEPT University and AMA.
