Furniture for Outdoor Spaces

A well-planned Urban furniture can endow character and identity to the cityscape around it. Apart from being elements of function ? they must be attractive to encourage users to
interact with them. Working on Urban scale, this Studio focuses on different aspects of design that fall within the realm of public sector? like ease of accessibility for all type of users, safety precautions, theft proof, low maintenance, cost effective in terms of mass production, should have easily replaceable components, weather proof, vandalism proof, barrier free, sturdy, durable, multi-functional & versatile in terms of its use, form & texture wise accommodative in terms of different architectural context, modular to cater to small group as well as large group of users at same time, etc. In this studio students have designed Urban furniture elements for
the given site ? Ahmadabad Riverfront like : - Benches, Light Poles, Bollards barricade, Waste receptacles, Signage, Waterspouts, Bike stands & locker utilities, light reflective devices, Seating elements, Aids to help security personnel, public Toilet, Registration counters & other kiosks. To develop an effective design for a public sector program, in order to enrich the overall user experience of public space is the key goal of this studio.
