Towards Water Plus Vista

The project Water Plus Vista aims at redesigning the landscape of Central Vista to that of a strategized performative one with a prime focus on storing, soaking, and developing public experiences around water systems. In spite of being known for its green cover, data analytics from the Groundwater Brochure of 2014 clearly indicate a rapid decline in the water table of Gandhinagar. What if an attempt is made to replenish these depleting water resources by reimagining public spaces that not only help in the restoration of the water level but also enhance the biodiversity around the Vista? One such strategy centered on water conservation and restoration has been improvised with four key aspects namely spread and soak, store and use, experience and comfort, and the activation of edge in accordance with water-sensitive regulations. These core themes will come together in an organic trail that originates at a damp zone, moves on to a hardscape, and ultimately terminates with soft ground bringing about a new ecosystem at Central Vista.
