Do cities plan for the right Mass Rapid Transit System

The aim of the studio is to have a comprehensive understanding of mass rapid transit systems and their technology. A feasibility study for three MRTS modes was conducted in Rajkot city including light metro-rail (rail-based), BRTS (bus-based) and Metro neo (Hybrid mode) for the year of 2041 (projected). The objective of study includes, scenario evaluation, project planning, phasing and implementation process for three different modes and to compare their FIRR and EIRR. The portfolio focuses more on understanding the concepts and differences between three MRTS modes with respect to their technology and applications. Further the study includes the understanding the concept of Metro Neo which is a hybrid mode and it’s planning context for the city of Rajkot.
