Light Capacity Metro Proposal for Rajkot

The aim of the studio is to have a comprehensive understanding of conducting a feasibility study for a Mass Rapid Transit project in a city. Gujarat’s Rajkot city was selected for the feasibility study where the alternative analysis was done for three different modes of transport viz. Light Capacity Metro (Rail-based), BRTS/ Bus Priority (Bus-based) and Metro Neo (Hybrid -based). In which, understanding the concepts, existing situation analysis, future Projections, demand Modelling, feasibility of Mass Rapid Transit Modes and scenario formulation were the steps of studio framework. Based on the analytical study, specific recommendations were given in the proposal, in which we as a group worked on the Light Capacity Metro proposal. This portfolio focuses on different parameters considered for the Light Capacity Metro proposal such as introduction to rail-based systems, existing situation analysis, demand, corridor selection, station planning, train operation plan and System specifications & technology.
