The studio's aim is to understand the framework to carry out a feasibility study of a Mass Rapid Transit System. The case specific city selected for the same is “Rajkot” located in the state of Gujarat. We studied different types of MRT Systems, their technologies and applications in Indian and Global context. Based on the initial study of different MRT Systems, three different modes were considered for the proposals viz. Light Capacity Metro (Rail based), Bus Priority/BRTS (Bus based) and Metro-Neo (Hybrid based). As a part of Group 1, the focus is on the feasibility study of Light Capacity Metro for the city of Rajkot. This portfolio focuses specifically on the final alignment, system technology selection, signalling system, business model and implementation plan.
