Duality to Equity

Mumbai is a city of extremes, this phenomenon manifests as socio-spatial disparity on the site of Mahalakshmi Saat Rasta, where the High rises and the chawls of Dhobi Ghat exist together. The project explores different existing and proposed regulations to achieve a design for an equitable and walkable neighbourhood that enhances the importance of such a prominent junction by developing the junction as a social space instead of a traffic island. It also attempts to provide efficient built and open spaces and improve access to public infrastructures such as green open spaces and transit systems.
