Hydrological Modelling- A Study of Vishwamitri Basin

Modeling hydrological processes like runoff, evapotranspiration, infiltration, peak discharge, and peak runoff volume are the most essential tasks that manage the water resources of the basin. Quantification of these hydrological components through hydrological modeling is an efficient way for consistent long-term behavioral studies. Major hydrological processes can be quantified with the help of the water balance equation. Hydrologic models are used for the planning of water resources for flood predictions, to understand the hydrology due to changes in land use and climate, for water quality monitoring, etc. For the study of hydrological modeling in the Vishwamitri River Basin, SWAT and HEC-HMS models have been used for simulating the streamflow and quantifying the change in the urbanization of Vadodara city using different land cover scenarios.
