Mixed-Use Project

The goal of our Studio-III "Integrated Construction Practices" was to select an ongoing project and apply various aspects of Lean & BIM integration and application on the project. First of all, a BIM Execution plan was prepared for desired scope of work which serve as a dynamic document. then modelling was done for the desired scope with the details of several disciplines (i.e., Architectural, Structural, MEPF services) and for different LOD. Apart from the models, a site layout was prepared and optimization of was done for the same. All the individual tasks were monitored on weekly basis, and the required actions were taken accordingly. Software’s like ACC, VisiLean and Plannerly have been used for efficient planning, scheduling and collaboration. Clash detection of model was done in ACC and Navisworks and clashes were resolved. For the models, quality checks were done and a checklist was prepared. After the clashes were resolved and quantity take-off was done. Apart from clash detection, 4D simulation was done in Navisworks, Synchro and VisiLean , and 5D simulation was done in Synchro. Design optimization was done by selecting two problems and applying CBA on it. Value engineering was a part of it. Also, Last Planner System was implemented for the design schedule and on site and analysis was done for the same. Finally, towards reaching the end of the studio, comparison between IPD approach and traditional approach was done.
