EMERGENCY SHELTER USING STEEL AND TENSILE FABRIC

This studio focuses on developing a more comprehensive understanding of diverse building materials and synthesizing architectural and structural principles. This project is tensile membrane structure which is a lightweight, tensioned fabric structure. The basic idea behind the construction of this type of structure is to use flexible membranes (fabric) stretched over a frame that are able to resist wind and gravity loads. The most common types of membranes used in these structures are PVC, Teflon and polyester fabrics. In this project after different iterations a final architectural form was developed which was then structurally designed.
