'THIRD PLACE' IN A TRANSIT SPACE

Designing for a ‘Pause’ amidst the ‘Pace’
Designing a Sensible Urban Public space demands understanding of patterns of activities, human behaviour and events in order to better develop new functions and uses that support public life. Studying a Transportation Node, we observe that the space surrounding this zone is not just a physical space to access the transport infrastructure, but is transformed into a social and interactive space filled with markets, shops, cafes, etc. The project tries to understand this ripple effect formed by the transportation hubs around themselves and explores ways to redesign the public space as an ‘overlap’ or an ‘insert’ in the transportation infrastructure.
