In the studio students learnt about the technical, financial, social, operations and processes aspects involved in managing cities . The broad objectives of the studio were to define the functions and the functionaries of city management, citizen charter to determine critical management issues at the ward/ local level, to understand the day-to-day processes, identify the gaps and to propose an implementation plan for management of services at the ward level. The municipal services included are 1.) Solid waste, 2.) Roads and Street lights , 3.) Parking 4.) Livelihood 5.) Water, 6.) Sewerage & Drainage, 7.) Public Toilets 8.) Municipal finances 9) Citizen services & Municipal office . Based on interactions, literature study and self-assessment, students understood the system of service delivery with focus on human resources, legislation, technology, processes and finances. The students then applyied management principles towards efficient management of city services. The learning methods include field visits, case study visits and expert lectures.
