Lumex // Vortex

The traditional craft of Ply-split Braiding  taught through this studio opens up a new world of possibilities in textile craft.
Our journey in understanding this art took us from the most basic step of making yarn to complex variants of braiding, and let us push the boundaries of what it can achieve by applying it in the creation of a real-world product.
By exploring this technique and understanding the properties and nature of both braiding and braidable materials, I was able to derive two product applications: a reinforced desk lamp, Lumex, and tripod stool based on the concept of "tensegrity" called Vortex.
