Nextgen Nexus

Nextgen Nexus is a space designed for teenagers between the age group of 12-17 years. The two chosen activities are baking and reading, which are highly emotionally stimulating. The concept chosen was curiosity, as it is one of the most dominating emotions felt at this age. Curiosity in design refers to the quality of being inquisitive, open-minded, and explorative within the context of the design process. The structure, while having a very modern look, has been given a pop of color to get one excited to come in. Openings at different levels help trigger curiosity and give a sneak peek into the space, inviting one into it. The furniture is functional yet minimalistic, giving a larger circulation space and making the space free.

The user's choices were understood and interpreted by interviews and models. The word fun and its various meanings for different people were also explored.

The site was studied, including its basic surroundings, its structure and the activities the spaces were used for.

The concept was chosen from the abstract models. Adjacency diagrams were used to understand the space each activity would need and its interconnectivity

Based on the connectivity between each space, the extensions were derived such that the basic structure of the original shell was retained.

The space was placed in such a way on the site that it not only depicts the concept but also is in accordance with the sun and wind directions

The sections show the interplay of various levels, making the space more exciting and showing how minimal spaces can be used to their full potential.

The axonometric view and the exterior renders show the accessibility to the space and how the space behaves with the surroundings.

The realistic renders show how the spaces interact with each other while also showing the materials and colors chosen for the space.
