The Lighting and Integrated Design Lab offered a comprehensive learning module on several areas of sustainable design. It entailed assessing daylight intake and in order to adequately scatter daylight through the spaces. The subject placed a strong emphasis on interpreting energy use while providing a broad spectrum of solutions for considerably reducing it. This encompassed climate assessments, precise adjustments to facade and envelope designs, optimization of daylight usage, enhancements in ventilation and HVAC systems, and the incorporation of renewable energy sources. Additionally, the course emphasized whole building performance and energy optimization, striving towards achieving net-zero energy consumption by integrating innovative design approaches and technologies.
