Interlude- The Transitional Melody

This project reimagines the design of a primary school at the village of Virpura. The new design aims at establishing the school as a symbol of bonding and community-spirit in the village. It becomes a place that, apart from imparting learning, contributes in strengthening relationships and bringing people closer together.
After interacting with the people of Virpura and understanding the educational and financial system behind the running of the school, some major potentials were recognised in the existing built of the school. Thus, this design proposal aims to retain the major built as such and tries to work around it by activating transitional spaces at various scales, ranging from the journey outside to inside of the school to the journey from one classroom to the other.
Also, with a primary and a secondary boundary in play, it transforms its character beyond the conventional schooling hours too and continues to serve the community.
