Computation space Planning: Inquiry of efficient space planning of School Typology

Design exploration of architectural space planning is frequently constrained by a large number of parameters, and finding an optimal solution within the stipulated time is difficult. In order to devise an effective strategy for space planning, the research evaluates how various spaces relate to one another through circulation, orientation, adjacencies, massing, etc. in a school complex. In doing so, a powerful symbiotic design system where algorithmic thinking provides the rationale and speed whereas the designer contributes through creativity and intuition is established . Therefore this research aims at using the insights derived from the analysis to devise an automated framework that can generate spatial layouts as per the criteria defined by the designer. These criteria might include ease of access, visibility, distribution of pause points, density of users, proximity, centrality, etc. They provide a means to translate the intentions of a designer into spatial qualities via quantitative measures. Further, a similar methodology can be employed to develop an algorithm for other types of building.
