An Approach towards Reduction of Non-Revenue Water

Ujjain is facing a severe water crisis due to the rapid urbanization, increasing population, and inefficient water management practices. One of the significant challenges faced by the city is the high Non-Revenue Water (NRW) rate, which includes water lost due to leaks, theft, billing inaccuracies, and unauthorized consumption. The high NRW rate leads to water scarcity, reduced revenue, and increased operational costs for the water utility. Therefore, there is an urgent need to reduce the NRW rate in Ujjain. The project aims to reduce the Non-Revenue Water (NRW) in Ujjain by implementing various measures such as leak detection and repair, pressure management, metering, and customer engagement. The project will be implemented by the Ujjain Municipal Corporation in partnership with the local water utility.
