Single Women's Housing

With broad analysis done on personal experiences of living with family and the corresponding way of living, a gender-specific housing was developed. Concept of adaptive-reuse is followed to transform the existing place of living - Shyamal Row House in Ahmedabad, to a conglomerate that can accommodate family as well as single person living. Thus, a row housing society which is currently inhabited just by single-families is converted into a multi-story building which aims to increase the density of people living per specific area, by building a strong community within. The design proposal intends to build a shared housing facility where women can seek short-term residence, while enjoying the interactive environment of a society.
