TA: Karishma SutariaConstruction Engineering for Mass Housing Projects
The studio dealt with mainly the construction of a mass housing project. Contractors are provided with scope, milestones and completion dates and have their bid price as a reference. Contractors have to efficiently and effectively execute the project with these major constraints. In this setting, the studio explored RCC framed structure and precast concrete building construction by applying theory and learning from ongoing major projects to the assigned project. For RCC structures, concrete, formwork and tools-equipment-plant are key to achieve project objectives. The studio focussed on developing methodology that optimizes the resource requirement and minimizes the time required while maintaining safety and quality.
