A public library as program presents an interesting paradox of the public and the private space. Reading a book is a private activity that demands silence while a public space is a social gathering spot that inhabits citizens from across the city and is often associated with noise. This paradox is further explored in the project by creating a Temporal Void that is separated by the roof of the structure. The temporal Void, or the library spaces push themselves underground restricting any kind of public disturbance and devoid of the sense of time. While the roof is the public pavilion.
