Barely Built - Hiding under Canopies

Ahmedabad and trees often appear as opposites, with the city’s bustling urban fabric contrasting starkly with the calm of green canopies. However, the Shreyas Foundation Campus stands as a rare exception, where the landscape takes precedence over built forms. Inspired by the towering heights and dense foliage of trees, my design embraces nature at its core. By utilizing CSEB, the project inherently aligns with sustainability, fostering harmony with the environment. In crafting residences and workshops, I focused on minimizing enclosed spaces and incorporating semi-open areas, allowing the trees to seamlessly integrate with the architecture. A central courtyard between the workshops and residences creates a dynamic space for people to engage with nature, enhancing interaction and connection. The entire site has been thoughtfully designed to offer children and visitors a diverse and immersive experience, ensuring that every interaction with the space resonates with the essence of nature.
