NO CONCRETE STUDIO
This Studio aims to bring numbers to design. Students must understand different
building materials by its properties and usage in terms of
1)structural malleability and stability
2)weathering in our climate and tactility.
The outcome is aimed at better understanding of ecology of building materials. The spatial planning and its achieved qualities is thought to be resultant of the building system chosen by students after careful study in initial exercises.
By specifically using non-concrete structures as subject examples, students should be able to understand concrete design (in its absence) in terms of its convenience in design and must be made aware about nuances of a spanning system and gauge any structure in its engineering aspect and imbibe an integrated approach from very outset in design in future course.
Structural designer and domain experts will be part of the faculty and students shall be exposed to habit of consultation as prevalent in practice. By delegating the work, students should learn to steer the team while by collective exercise should work in a team culture.
