The Open Horizon

Creating Pause points are vital in urban areas, enhancing human experiences through social interaction, relaxation, and mental well-being. In fast-paced cities, these spaces—benches, small plazas, and shaded spots—offer a chance to pause, fostering connection with the environment and others. They soften the urban landscape, making it more welcoming and accessible. By encouraging gathering, socializing, and people-watching, pause points strengthen community bonds and a sense of belonging. They also promote inclusivity, providing essential rest areas for everyone, including older adults and those with mobility challenges, ensuring cities are not just functional but also humane and inviting for all.
