HOPE is a transformative adaptive reuse project reimagining the General Post Office building in Ahmedabad as a rehabilitation center and Makers Space. It offers a sanctuary for substance abuse recovery and a platform for skill development through recycling and innovation. The design enhances openness, privacy, and natural lighting by adding and removing blocks. A new block is added atop the GPO, with two additional blocks near the corners, fostering inward-facing volumes for privacy. Open plazas enliven the dense urban context, while skylights and slab perforations maximize natural light, creating a harmonious blend of functionality and architectural sensitivity.
