KEY STUDIO COMPONENTS:
This studio explores Urban Regeneration, Rehabilitation, and Adaptive Reuse, set against the backdrop of two remarkable locations: Cervejaria Portugalia in Lisbon, Portugal, and the General Post Office of Ahmedabad, India.
KEY STUDIO COMPONENTS:
1. Learning from Precedents: Participants analyze diverse international case studies to scrutinize design strategies, glean insights, and engage in hands-on model-making to ignite their creative ideas.
2. Deconstructing and Reconstructing: Participants immerse themselves in the historical significance of these structures. Simultaneously, they explore innovative approaches to usher these relics into the modern era, mastering heritage preservation from a contemporary design lens.
3. Master Plan Development: The emphasis is on city-wide transformation, integrating heritage structures into the urban fabric, revitalizing these sites, and breathing new life into them.
4. Building Solutions: Students are challenged to reimagine individual buildings while upholding the original architecture''s integrity, resulting in fresh and sustainable solutions.
This course empowers students to go beyond heritage preservation and design expertise, reinforcing essential skills in graphic representation, project pitching, and portfolio creation, preparing them to make a meaningful impact in the field.
