This project transforms a quarry in Champaner, into a theatrical space for Franz Kafka's text "Metamorphosis". Two scaffolded cubes symbolize the fragmented Samsa household: the exterior “skin” and the exposed “skeleton,” while a translucent tunnel bridges them, serving as Gregor’s room and a metaphor for his entrapment. The decayed aesthetic of Corten steel and hinged planes blends with the rugged quarry walls, creating blurred boundaries between inside and outside. This interplay of light, materiality, and space evokes Kafka’s themes of transformation, decay, and isolation.
