In Metamorphosis, Franz Kafka tells the story of Gregor Samsa, a traveling salesman who wakes up one morning to find himself transformed into a giant insect. This shocking change forces him to retreat to his bedroom, where he becomes increasingly isolated from his family and the world around him.
The play explores 'controlled visibility' between the personal spaces and the collective spaces and their coexistence through the intersection of cubes, aligned at different levels and angles, creates platforms with varied viewpoints for both actors and audience. While the cubes partially limit visibility, they connect different spaces, defining personal, collective, dynamic and void areas particularly through the use of openings (such as doors and windows) and obstructions.
Multiple pathways provide the audience with different perspectives of the stage, including routes around the back that connect private and collective spaces.
