Urban Management Foundation Studio

The studio is designed to teach the functional and skill building components required by urban managers. It uses the concept of Facility Management (FM) to introduce tools and techniques to achieve improved quality of life and productivity of the core business. The studio will teach integration of people, place and process concepts for effective functioning of the built environment.

The students will develop skills through short exercises related to strengthening observation, story building, asset mapping, root cause analysis, and reflection writing. They will assess the good practices and gaps in the existing system, and align solutions to meet the vision. They will work on topics like urban infrastructure services, human resource management, housekeeping, grievance redressal, governance, finance, and others. The studio will lead to preparation of a comprehensive FM plan including phasing, cost estimation, asset management, and monitoring. The students would learn to assess the critical components required for managing the built environment.
