Bhumisamvardhana: Enhancing Soil with Admixtures

This studio focused on understanding soil behaviour and its role in construction, considering theory and practice. This has involved multiple site visits, including Judges Bungalow, CG Road, and Sargasan, for experience insoil sampling, borehole drilling, and field testing on-site. Laboratory work includes Proctor, CBR, direct shear, grain size analysis, specific gravity, and Atterberg limits. Soil improvement techniques applied with admixtures are marble and foundry dust. The studio also calculated the safe bearing capacity (SBC) and settlement, and that led to broad exposure to geotechnical principles and their application in construction projects on real-world sites.
