Sound of the City

Music is universal, but its universality lies in its ability to transcend cultural, linguistic, and geographical boundaries to evoke emotions and convey meaning. While music as a subject has personal interpretations, the project tries to understand collective memory of people and music, and its associations with deeper societal networks and inequities. The project interprets music as a context where people come together for collective action. The experiences of local music can serve as a bridge for cultural exchange and understanding. It allows people from different backgrounds to connect through shared musical experiences, fostering empathy, dialogue, and mutual appreciation. Thus, the site selection and proposal responds to 3 major factors. Inclusivity, opportunity for Co-existence and Proximities with the city at large.
